The Story of Our MascotCan I tell you a little story about a goose? I have a group of amazing women for our leadership team. We have been together all summer working on the group and how to make it better. I cherish each one of them and we need each other not just for the groups sake but to survive. We recently read a story about a goose and have decided that the goose will be our mascot for our support group. We want to share the story with all of you. Why is our mascot a goose?? Because geese all travel the same distance, make the same journey, go the same direction to achieve the same goal, but sometimes one falls out of formation cuz she is just 'too tired to fly any longer'. She knows where she is supposed to go, the rest of the flock is well on their way, but she just can't keep up. The joy of being in such a strong formation though is that when all seems hopeless she is carried forward by the strength of those flying around her; she is lifted and kept in the air by the sheer wind of wings flying beside her. When she regains her strength, she is still in formation and on her way again, with the never-ending support of her flock. And when it is her turn to keep another in the air, she will remember the support she has received. So in our meetings or on the yahoo loop, if you ever see a post that has 'honk honk honk in it, it is one of us Geese calling to each other for support or encouragement. This story is for each of you because I think we can all benefit from the gift of group support. Remember everyone here is working for the same goal, to homeschool our children and bring them up to be honorable men and women. No matter what our race or religion, we have the same prize in mind. We each want a better life for our children. So, no matter what, never give up your place in the flock! You may never know when your support & encouragement saved another goose from falling out of formation and crashing. |
